Is People Search by Exa free?

Scrollport has no free tier: it costs $0.0098 per request ($0.98 per 100 requests), paid per use from a prepaid wallet with no subscription. Connecting your first agent adds $1 of trial credit, so you can try it before adding funds.

Do I need an API key from Exa?

No. Your agent runs it through your Scrollport connection (MCP, the Scrollport CLI or the HTTP API), and Scrollport handles access to Exa, so you don't sign up with Exa or manage an API key.

About this tool

Search Exa's people index using a role, location, company or other profile description. Returns profile titles, source URLs and optional page text. The first ten requested slots share one search charge; additional requested slots are included in the upfront quote. A completed search, including a valid empty answer, costs that quote. This searches indexed profiles; email and phone enrichment are separate tools. The worked example shows selected fields from a recorded response, with at most the first item of each list.
